Blog? What Blog?

Things have been busy around here.
A certain small person has been taking up vast amounts of time (wonderful, joyous, albeit occasionally smelly time), and when we’re not tending to him, the following stuff has been going on:

Attended beer festival in Boston, 10/29 (Isaac and Laura visited Deirdre, Lisa, and Anya)
Working out aggravatingly strange argument between [...]

More Photos, and movies!

Right, so things are a little crazy now, trying to be back at work and such.
Anyway, more still shots are up, as are the first movies!
Also, from here on out, Isaac-specific news and images will roll over to his own site, while general rambling, ranting, and occasional weepy fatherly spiels will remain here. Cute [...]

Isaac, Days 3 & 4

*Whew*
Exhausting days at home, but we are indeed home. It’s so much easier with a staff of pro nurses at your beck and call! Mainly, they let you sleep. Isaac is a slow eater, which means feeding time is lengthy. No more detail, but it’s not quite as much fun as [...]

Isaac, Day 2

Exhaustion never felt this good.
However, it will be better when we’re home and we can grab our intermittent sleep on our own bed, rather than in various medical-grade sleeping devices. At least Laura gets a real mattress — I’m on this bad boy:

OK, so it does pull out a bit more, but my feet [...]

Labor of Love

Just to clarify, the labor started around 1:30AM or so, soon after the water broke. Things started getting intense *fast*, so that I was re-awakened around 4 or 4:15 to get things together to head to the hospital. By the time we got here, the contractions were coming fast and furious. And [...]

Please welcome…

Mr. Isaac Samuel Ager, born at 7:07AM, September 4, 2005. 7 pounds, 5 ounces, 19 inches long.

Mom and baby are doing well, and he decided to arrive in quite the hurry: we got to the birthing pavilion at about 5AM!
Images and more news on the way when we fire up [...]

One Thing Reconsidered

This Slate articlepicks up the debate started last week by the NY Times regarding the presence of men, and their squeamishness about, the delivery room/birth.
I came down hard on the squeamish and “presumed) “manly” men, of course, but the above article makes some good points. Mainly, that it’s probably a bad idea to have [...]

Version and Aversion

Here’s a recipe for Friday Night Fun: external version. Turns out The Boy was feet-first, head-up. IOW, exactly the reverse of how he’s supposed to be at this point in time. The term for that position is “footling breech.” This is a funny term, one that brings to mind two things:

The [...]

Le Tour, Landlording, Lamaze

Catching up a bit here…
Le Tour
By now it’s almost old news that Lance Armstrong won his 7th Tour de France, and has retired from cycling. Not even worth linking to an article at this point. I watched the entirety of this year’s coverage, from the eye-popping initial time trial in which he blew [...]

First pictures posted

The Boy’s first shots as a recognizable being are now available. The 12-week shot of a vaguely peanut-looking blob, while nifty to us, isn’t nearly as interesting. Here they are.
(Excuse the odd background; something goofy happened when configuring the image software.)
