I heard there’s a football thing this weekend
Yep, Super Bowl time. This year, I’ll be seeing it on a big-screen HDTV, courtesy of a friend. I’m guessing that my pitch to save for HDTV will start approximately 48 seconds after I get home from this.
So in preparation, here are a few things to read so you’re fully prepared:

- Celebrity Picks: Troy McClure picks the Super Bowl!
- Proper Viewing Gear: Slate discusses the best projectors for the football-obsessed.
- Know Your Third Team: Did I say football-obsessed? ‘Cause here we go. The “third team” would be the officiating crew, and here’s a breakdown of the SB crew.
- Ongoing “News”: AOL’s (I know, I know, but these are well-executed sports blogs!) Super Bowl blog keeps the tidbits coming fast and furious.
- The Lighter Side: Deadspin takes the hot air out of SB coverage.
- Remember that Super Bowl coverage is where journalism goes to die (someone else on the web wrote that, but I can’t remember who).
- Beer
What else might one need, really?
