Updates? What is this, a blog?
So I started this thing with the intent to write semi-often. As per usual, I’ve fallen off drastically. Well, here’s the magical “How Stuff’s Going” catch-up post!
Ager Acres: We have a mole … or fifty. Seriously, the ground is chewed up to an unreal degree. Something drastic might have to be done. I can see tunnels tracking well into the neighbor’s yard. Crap.
The Manse: Spring, the season of the Free Estimate! Roofing, painting, tree work, landscaping, you name it, we’ve got estimates coming! Not like we’ll be able to do more than one major thing this year, but still, it’s time to budget in for the future.
Books: Re-reading the brewing library. Obsessively.
Beer: Geared up (but for a few pieces of plastic that are hopefully in transit), and doing a bit of testing this weekend with the new rig. First brew next weekend on the outsized outdoor brewery (pictures coming soon).
Local stuff: Slowly, slowly, our little band of dissident gardeners and traffic-calmers moves towards having a plan to present to the town. Very very slowly slowly.
Isaac takes up mucho time. All that time rocks HARD, however. Pictures? Issues 90% solved, just a bit of HTML editing and double-checking before the last few months go live. Oh, and he now pretty much fits into the baby-backpack we have, so soon he’ll be able to experience the local mountains! UPDATE: They’re live.
Le Dorq Sportif: I actually got going with a physical therapy program for my crapped-out knees. It involves lots of stretching and some minor exercises. Naturally, it has taken nearly 6 weeks to figure out when to fit this stuff in to my day. However, I hope to be able to move forward now and actually do some cycling, light running, etc. this summer. And lots and lots of hiking!
WebTech: Started learning Ruby. Promptly completely failed to understand the fifth lesson. Then got sucked into a long digression into FileMaker 8 (nice upgrades guys, but come on, a few wizards wouldn’t have hurt anyone … OK, yeah, I’m lazy, but still), followed by other far more pressing actual-job items. I expect that btis and pieces of advancement will kick in again soon as I get busier (it’s easier to parcel out time to small stuff for me if there’s an awful lot of big stuff to concentrate on).

Hey, Andy … what’s the fifth lesson? What book are you using?

_Learn to Program_, by Chris Pine. I guess it’s actually Chapter 4 (variables and assignment).
